MOSS-FREE SURFACES thanks to NEXT-GENERATION DETERGENTS

NEXT-GENERATION Detergent in action by Balo Jetwash NEXT-GENERATION Detergent in action by Balo Jetwash

In the West Midlands, an exterior cleaner has begun using a unique, licence-only treatment that only a handful of specialists worldwide can access. This isn’t hype — it’s a genuine shift: targeted, long-lasting control of moss and soiling, to the delight of homeowners — and to the dismay of moss & grime.

What’s new?

  • Targeted action — More than lifting surface moss and deposits, the treatment addresses the root causes of regrowth for a longer-lasting result.

  • Longer-lasting cleanliness — Surfaces stay presentable for longer, so deep cleans are needed less often.

  • Less water, fewer revisits — An optimised process that can reduce environmental impact.

Straight talk: this isn’t magic. Industrial-grade pressure washing plus next-gen chemistry together deliver standout results — for residential and commercial clients alike. Outcomes vary with surface condition and local environment.

How I Became a Pressure Washer in Wolverhampton

Me with Joseph

I’d like to share how I got here – what shaped me, and how I became one of Wolverhampton’s recognised exterior cleaners.
This is an honest look back – not the polished version, but the real one.

Early Beginnings

I’ve been fascinated by machines for as long as I can remember – cars, motorbikes, robots, anything mechanical.
I must have been around six years old when my uncle bought himself an old pressure washer.
The moment I saw it, I said I wanted to try it.
Surprisingly, he said yes – and it felt absolutely incredible to use it for the first time.
Even as a child, I managed to wash an entire car on my own.

Back then, I had no idea that one day I’d earn my living using a much more powerful machine.

From Factory Work to Realisation

As the years went by, that childhood memory faded.
I grew up, and like most people, had to start earning a living – unfortunately, not as a business owner, but as an employee.
I worked in several factories around Telford and across the West Midlands.
I always did overtime, tried to save what I could, but I was never truly satisfied.
The work was tough, often under difficult conditions, and there was always pressure to meet targets.

Then one day my stomach started to hurt.
At first just a little, then worse with each passing day.
It went on for almost a year until I could no longer work and finally had to see a doctor.
I’ve never been the type to visit doctors, but after a few tests, I needed surgery.

During a conversation with my doctor, it became clear that my health problems were most likely caused by stress.
That was the turning point when I realised – I didn’t want to be an employee anymore.
I didn’t want to live my life following someone else’s plan.
I wanted to follow my own path.

Driveway Cleaning for Lasting Kerb Appeal

Driveway Cleaning Driveway Cleaning

Your driveway is the first thing visitors notice, but moss, weeds and oil stains can quickly spoil its look. At Balo Jetwash, we specialise in professional driveway cleaning across the West Midlands, restoring surfaces to their best and keeping them safe, fresh and welcoming.

Why Driveway Cleaning Matters

Over time, driveways naturally collect dirt, algae and stubborn stains. Weather conditions in the West Midlands often accelerate this build-up, leaving surfaces slippery and unsightly. Without proper care, problems can include:

  • Moss and algae growth creating unsafe, slippery patches.

  • Oil and tyre stains from vehicles.

  • Weeds breaking through block paving joints.

Line Marking Removal Without Damage — With a Spotless Finish

Line Marking Removal Without Damage — With a Spotless Finish Line Marking Removal Without Damage — With a Spotless Finish

Removing painted line markings can be difficult, time-consuming and, in some cases, seemingly impossible to do without damaging the surface. In this blog I walk through a recent clean and debunk a few common myths and methods that are either ineffective or, worse, potentially harmful and dangerous.

The call-out

Last month a corporate client asked for help removing a mistakenly applied “Deliveries Only” marking. Due to a communication mix-up, the maintenance team had painted the wording in the wrong place. They tried several chemicals but couldn’t shift it. The facilities manager then emailed This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to ask whether we could assist.

With extensive experience in graffiti removal, I was confident we could handle it and accepted the job. I met the client at an office complex in Solihull, inspected the marking referenced in the email, and discussed the brief with the site contact.

Why others turned it down

Several local contractors had declined the work. In my view, this was largely due to a lack of training on how to use the right detergents effectively and safely — and not having the correct tools for controlled, non-destructive removal.

The method that worked

I used a specialist detergent sourced from Pureseal, followed by 70 °C high-pressure water. This combination allowed me to lift the paint cleanly. The entire removal took around 30 minutes.
